I have heard many people over time credit either luck or chance for their ability to reach a seemingly impossible accomplishment.
The word luck was a word used often in my vocabulary, but the more I got to know God and the more I actively sought Him, resulted in the word LUCK bothering me more and more. I recall watching a social media personality stated: “we need to have luck in order to make it in life.” I felt this was a flawed line of thought and triggered me to seek the meaning of the word Luck and Chance.
My initial action was to begin researching the basic meaning of luck. According to Dictionary.com, the word LUCK means good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance. Where the word Chance also means a luck or fortune; the absence of any cause of events that can be predicted, understood, or controlled.
I then meditated, and God revealed to me that LUCK is nothing else than being blessed with the opportunity of living an abundant life under His Kingdom; I thought more on this revelation and found a new acronym for LUCK:
Living a BLESSED life Under Christ Kingdom (L.U.C.K)
The only way to live like that is through [by] grace. For we have
“being justified by His grace through redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24)
The Bible tells us that grace is “unmerited favor and love of God” given to us freely (Ephesian 1:2 AMPC). In addition, Grace is the influence or spirit of God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them; a virtue (dictionary.com).
By just looking at all the definitions above, we can see that Luck and Chance have been encapsulated into the meaning of Grace. Grace is a gift from our Lord Jesus, free of charge and deception; it is unearned, unmerited, and a source of our strength and hope. Because of the grace of God, we are who we are, and have what we have.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I but the grace of God which was with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10)
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)
All this made me understand that there is no luck, but grace of our Lord Jesus that works in us; the grace we need to survive in this world. For Jesus said:
My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness… (2 Corinthians 12:9)
The amazing part of it all is that the grace of God has no measures. Living by the grace of God means living above unfortunate circumstances. Just imagine you fighting a battle where your war is already won and you are a victor from the start. Even when unfortunate circumstances arise, you will still have the joy and love of God that surpasses all and He will make a way where there is no way. It is like living in a land filled of milk and honey, filled of favors, opportunities and open doors. At the same time, you will have to do your part which means accepting Christ, having faith and believing that His grace is sufficient; it doesn’t have to be perfect, for no one is except Jesus.
My childhood and into adulthood has been marked by ups and downs, I recognize now that I committed many sins and lived my life the way I wanted to at the time. Because I was alone in my battles, I taught I was in control of my life. I was born and raised Catholic, and I was well aware who Jesus was, but still went to the extent of rejecting God at times and breaking covenants just because I thought He wasn’t there through all of my ordeals. I truly believed God abandoned me; little to know that all this while, He protected me and my Life was in His hands. Looking back now, I can tell you with assurance that God was definitely present in my life more than I ever imagined.
As I was growing up, it was so natural for me to use the words “chance” or “luck” to express favorable situations happening to me or around me. I recall now that key moments of my life I tried to use chance or luck to reference the favors of God in my life. However, the Spirit kept convicting me and I wasn’t at ease about it; it was like I knew I was lying but couldn’t comprehend why, for they are both common words. These words can easily be misinterpreted from the word blessing by anyone, which only comes by the grace of God.
As soon as I received the revelation from God regarding Living BLESSED life Under Christ Kingdom (L.U.C.K). I started to consciously interchange the word LUCK and CHANCE to BLESSING and GRACE in my statements. Instead of stating “I was lucky enough to pass the class”, I knew it was only right to credit “by the grace of God, I was able to pass the class.” These seemingly small changes have a profound impact in how I viewed the world around me. Now, I see my whole life through the promises of God and His love for me. I have peace and joy in my heart and I feel more empowered. I can’t tell you how God did it, but I can only tell you how different I am feeling. I know now that my life wasn’t preserved because of luck or chance, it was preserved because God loved me. He has a plan for me, and His mission for my life is what I am pursuing right now by telling you the journey of my life and how God has been front row and center even when I did not see it.
You (enemy) intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. (Genesis 50:20 NLT)
When you read this ask yourself two questions: How are you living your life? How are you now going to live or view your life?
As a believer of Christ, NO one is exempted from trials, and the outcome will be determined on how you handled them. For before God changes your story, He will first increase your problems. God knows you, what you are going through and your limits but until you are broken and totally surrender, only then He will meet you [encounter] at your point of needs.
Along the way through my future posts, I will be sharing details about how God turned my life around in different situations and carried me in His hands the whole time. Stay tuned for my next post(s)…
Let’s pray:
Father, in the name of Jesus and the help of the Holy Spirit, guide me through God’s truth as I go about my day. May I not perish because of lack of knowledge but pour unto me Your Spirit of knowledge, understanding, wisdom, boldness in Jesus Name. In everything I do Lord, may Your grace be sufficient and may I be made strong in my weakness as I grow closer to you; may I see my circumstances as a blessing and opportunity for growth not grumbling in Jesus mighty name. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God, the Sweet Fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest with us all now and forevermore in Jesus Name I have prayed, Amen!
Remember, you are blessed and Highly favored! 🙂
